I am overhauling an xc51, and am wondering if the extraction tool you show is a marzocchi tool, or a generic automotive tool. It doesn't show up on a search or on this sites tool list. I used a valve core repair tool to press the cap down and get the clip out, but have no leverage to pull it out without damaging something. Also, I have found 24mm seal kids in stock in the UK, but they only show they are for the XC500.
Would these be interchangeable? Marzocchi USA said their records don't go back that far, so they had no help to give.
Good info at following website: Check out that website and completed ebay auctions for marzocchi xc 300/400/500 etc forks, you should be able to figure out what to sell it for. My experience is mostly with '97 or later forks, those early ones are really hard to find parts for.
That website linked there is the only place I know of that sells parts for the early forks. Retrobike.co.uk is a good place to look for more info too, very mountain bike oriented forum with some good archives of old catalogs and tech manuals. Edit: Almost certainly for 26' wheels, 700 just being the model number I think. 'Zokes from that time period made the other brands (primarily RockShox and Manitou) seem not so good.
After all, Marzocchi was an Italian motorcycle suspension fork company dating back to the 1940's. Bicycle suspension forks were relatively easy. For an early mtb suspension fork, you've got a pretty good one, but that's a relative statement.
The Marzocchi forks from just a couple of years later (the original Atom Bombs and later Bombers) really upped the game.then Fox got involved around 2001 or 2002, and Marzocchi was immediately the second best mtb suspension fork brand. And it was all downhill from there (no pun intended).

Just got a set of Marzocchi XC500 and got them on the bik over the weekend. Got a shock pump (halfords range) for the air chamber, but have noticed that the inlet on the forks doesn't match the coupling I have. The coupling on the pump looks like a standard schrader valve but the fork has a very small (and thin) nipple which won't fit the pump.
Anyone know of any adaptors out there for this purpose which will allow the pump to work with the fork? Have been for a few light runs and haven't noticed bottom out and the ETA works fine so must be some air in there and the forks are smashing as an upgrade on the Dart 2's I had.
Oh and by the way.the Marzocchi user guide is total pants. Had read this on forums before, but it is true. Thanks for this.what I have one the letf hand fork (viewed from ride position) is the rebound adjust.are you saying I can pop that off and find the air valve in there. I haven't tried that as yet as it seems quite well on.
I think the XC500 is a coil on that side and an air chamber on the other, but I could be wrong.maybe its the other way round. On the right hand fork there is the little red ETA slider thing. That comes off quite easily and has the small nipple valve inside. I had assumed this was the air chamber, but it could be the spring.
Like I say, the user manual is total garbage and doesn't even have this sort of simple explanantion in it.OMG Never got anything by way of valves/adaptors etc with the fork. Should I go back to seller and ask them why not???? Cheers again. Blazblue central fiction characters. Fork is 2008 Marzocchi XC500 ETA as per above link.although not purchased here, but from UK Bike Store.and as far as I am aware, brand new out of the box and not OE.
However, no user manual or any other stuff was in the box upon opening so downloaded from link on same webpage. If I was due to get an adaptor for the forks then I need to speak to the guys I got it from and get this sent out. Nicklouse.where did you find the manuals you speak of and are they the same as mine. As you describe the air preload is in the right leg under the ETA and the left leg has a rebound adjust on the top (have prised this off and no air valve underneath). Not sure about the bottom but can check for rebound control.
Marzocchi Xc 500 Manual
Don't recall seeing anything there when I was putting them on. Hope this helps.
The ETA side does have the funny valve. The other side does have the rebound but I prised the rebound cap off and there was nothing underneath it and certainly no valve capable of fitting my shock pump. The manuals link you gave me is the one I found, but it doesn't really tell you very much at all.apart from about twenty ways to make sure your wheel is aligned correctly. Are you sure the top of rebound leg is where the shock pump attachs? I don't doubt you I'm just confused as to what I have bought if you have the same forks with different geometry and attachments.
